How Long Does It Take To Get Veneers?

The process usually takes two appointments. At your first appointment, your teeth will be prepared, and images and impressions of them will be taken. Dr. Hope will design your veneers, and send this information to a dental lab.

You’ll be sent home with a temporary set of veneers. Then, after about 2-3 weeks, your veneers will arrive, and be bonded permanently in place at your second appointment.

Can Veneers Be Reversed?

No. During the preparation stage, a very thin layer of enamel, equal in thickness to the porcelain veneer, is removed to ensure a seamless fit. Because of this, traditional porcelain veneers are not considered to be a reversible procedure.

Does The Process Of Getting Veneers Hurt?

Most of our patients report absolutely no discomfort during the procedure.

While your teeth are prepared, we will use a local anesthetic to ensure you do not feel any discomfort. We also offer sedation, if you’re nervous about the procedure.

How Long Will My Veneers Last?

This often depends on how well you care for your veneers. They will usually last at least 10 years, but modern veneers can last even longer with proper care. Some veneers can last up to 20 years before they need to be replaced.

Do I Need To Change My Oral Hygiene Routine?

No, you can care for your veneers just like you would care for natural teeth! Brush and floss normally, and see Dr. Hope for regular, 6-month dental appointments. The only thing you should do is avoid chewing on extremely hard food (nuts, ice) or non-food objects (like pens and fingernails) with your front teeth, as this could cause the porcelain to chip or crack. You should also avoid using your teeth as tools, meaning you shouldn’t try to open bags, containers or packages by using your teeth.

Do Veneers Make Your Teeth More Sensitive?

Some patients find that their teeth are slightly more sensitive after they are prepared for veneers. However, this sensitivity usually dissipates within a few days. In fact, the teeth are usually less sensitive once the entire process of veneer placement is complete.

How Much Do Veneers Cost?

The cost of veneers depends on which teeth require treatment, and how many teeth are being treated. Since the cost of veneers can vary, we recommend that you see Dr. Hope for a consultation and a more accurate estimate.

Will My Insurance Cover Veneers?

Veneers are considered a cosmetic, elective procedure, so your insurance most likely won’t cover the cost. However, some insurance providers may cover a percentage. You can discuss your coverage with our knowledgable team to go over your options. Call us today to learn more!
