Dr. Douglas G. Hope is a southern California native. After attending high school in the Los Angeles and Orange County area, he attended the University of California at San Diego and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry. After working as a Chemist for a few years in San Diego, Dr. Hope found his calling in Dentistry. He graduated from the University of California at San Francisco School of Dentistry in 1998, with the degree of Doctorate in Dental Surgery.
Having lived throughout California, Dr. Hope knew San Diego was in his future, so he attended another year of advanced dental studies with a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Hospital in La Jolla.
Dr. Hope was selected for one of only three positions that were open to graduating dentists applying throughout the entire United States. There, he learned advanced techniques on how to restore complex and extremely difficult restorative and prosthetic cases. He also worked with and managed medically compromised patients, and received one-on-one training from several dental specialists.
Dr. Hope’s philosophy is patient-centered dental care. He believes every patient deserves the best and most advanced dental care possible and feels that they should be involved in the decision-making process. That can’t happen without being fully knowledgeable about the treatment plan. By educating patients about their oral health, Dr. Hope opens up the conversation and gets patients to their best options.
To deliver the best dental care possible a dentist has to be fully committed to continuing education. Dr. Hope has achieved the titles of FAGD- Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and FICOI- Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. These designations are awarded to dentists who dedicate themselves to continued training and education so they may deliver the best dental care available for the health, comfort and long-term wellness of their patients.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Hope enjoys spending time with his family and engaging in hobbies such as woodworking, cooking or working out. You may also find the team at Douglas G Hope, DDS reaching out to the community and sharing good dental hygiene education in local schools.
