Teeth Whitening in Escondido

Make your Smile Sparkle with Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening by dentist Douglas G. Hope, DDS, with offices conveniently located in Escondido, is a great way to improve your smile and restore the natural color of your teeth. Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures around, and it’s fast, pain-free, and affordable!

Over time, our teeth tend to age and become stained due to consumption of beverages like coffee or tea, smoking, and many other factors. Teeth whitening allows you to remove these surface stains, and provides you with a brighter smile! Learn more about teeth whitening now.

How Does Teeth Whitening Work?

All teeth whitening treatments work by using an active ingredient based on oxygen molecules. Most commonly, this is either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide.

The oxygen molecules in these compounds react with the discoloration and surface stains on your teeth. They “break” the bonds that hold discolorations in place, penetrating deep within the enamel of the tooth. By doing so, they remove surface stains and provide you with a more natural, bright smile!

What’s The Difference Between In-Office And At-Home Teeth Whitening?

We offer both in-office and at-home teeth whitening treatments at our dental office. Curious about the difference? Let’s talk about the details now.

In-office whitening is typically somewhat more intensive than at-home treatment. It is best for those that need immediate results, such as for a special occasion like a wedding or an important business meeting.

Dr. Hope will begin the treatment by applying protective compounds to your gums. This prevents the soft tissues from being irritated by the bleaching treatment. Then, a specialized gel that contains peroxide will be applied to your teeth. Usually, we use Zoom whitening products.

For best results, Dr. Hope will use a UV light to “activate” this peroxide, and excite the oxygen molecules. This will allow surface stains to be lifted more quickly.

The process typically takes about an hour, and patients can enjoy teeth that are anywhere from 5-10 shades whiter!

For at-home whitening, we use advanced KoR whitening products. Dr. Hope will customize and design a set of KoR whitening trays that fit perfectly around your teeth, providing maximum surface area for your teeth whitening treatment.

Then, you simply take your KoR whitening trays home, and you wear them as you’ve been instructed by Dr. Hope. Within just a few weeks, you’ll have visibly whiter teeth, without having to spend a minute in the dentist’s chair!

Both in-office and at-home teeth whitening treatments are equally effective, so the choice is yours. If you need fast results, you can choose in-office whitening. If you need a more flexible treatment schedule, you can choose KoR at-home whitening.

What Is Zoom Teeth Whitening?

Zoom is a family of teeth whitening products that are manufactured and sold by Philps. Zoom is one of the most popular types of professional, in-office whitening treatment. Zoom whitening uses a special gel that contains hydrogen peroxide (whitener) as well as a compound called Amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP) and a few other ingredients.

Along with a special Zoom blue LED light, this whitening compound delivers amazing results, and can whiten your smile by up to eight shades in just a single appointment at the office of Dr. Douglas G. Hope. In-office teeth whitening with Zoom is a fantastic option if you want fast results for a special occasion.

How Does The Zoom Teeth Whitening Procedure Work?

It usually takes about an hour to whiten your teeth with Zoom teeth whitening at our office. Before you can have your teeth whitened, though, you will get a teeth cleaning, just like you would during a checkup. Getting a teeth cleaning helps remove debris and plaque from your teeth. This means the Zoom whitening gel can be applied to your teeth more evenly, enhancing your results.

To begin the process, Dr. Hope and our team will apply a special protectant to your lips and gums, then use cheek retractors to separate your lips and cheeks from your teeth, isolating your teeth. Next, our team will apply Zoom whitening gel to your teeth, covering each tooth evenly with a coat of gel.

Once the gel is in place, we will use a special Zoom blue LED device to boost the power of your whitener. This device will shine a special light on your teeth and the whitening gel. This light excites the whitener, agitating the molecules and improving its ability to remove stains.

After about 15 minutes of light activation, we will rinse the whitener away from your teeth. Then, we will re-apply the whitener and repeat the process. Most patients repeat the process three times, for a total of 45 minutes of whitening.

Finally, once your whitening procedure is over, Dr. Hope will apply a special fluoride varnish to your teeth. This helps protect them and reduce sensitivity after teeth whitening. Then, you’ll be sent home to enjoy your brilliant new smile.

What Are The Benefits Of Zoom Vs. Other Types Of Teeth Whitening?

First, Zoom offers very fast results. Most patients can get a smile that’s up to eight shades whiter with just a single, hour-long treatment at our office. Even if you have deep stains, Zoom teeth whitening can remove them and restore the natural brightness of your enamel. Thanks to its powerful active ingredients and the Zoom blue LED device that’s used to activate the whitener, Zoom can handle even the most severe stains.

Zoom also uses a special ingredient that helps keep your teeth strong and reduces sensitivity after whitening. This is amorphous calcium phosphate, or ACP for short. When applied as part of your whitening gel, ACP helps protect your teeth and reduce sensitivity and tenderness after teeth whitening.

So if you want fast results, better comfort, and a brighter smile, Zoom teeth whitening from the office of Dr. Douglas G. Hope is a fantastic choice. Contact us now to book a cosmetic consultation, and find out if teeth whitening in Escondido is right for you.
