Rather than using metal brackets and wires, Invisalign uses “clear braces”, or plastic aligners, to shift your teeth gradually, correcting crooked or misaligned teeth.
Dr. Hope will take impressions of your teeth and send them to Invisalign where specialized software is used to create a comprehensive treatment plan and customized set of aligners. You will wear each aligner for 2 weeks before it’s replaced with your next set. You’ll also need to wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, removing it only when you eat, drink, brush or floss.
The gentle pressure of Invisalign plastic aligners shifts your teeth gradually, minimizing pain and discomfort. This system is capable of providing the same results as traditional bracket-and-wire metal braces, when worn correctly. But treatment time varies depending on the patient. Most patients use a set of 20-30 Invisalign aligners over the course of their treatment. And most cases are completed in about a year.
